Bill Cosby Rumors Gone Wild

↳ Posted on November 19th, 2014 by Ben Spera

Bill-cosby-himselfLately there has been a bunch of accusations directed toward comedian Bill Cosby, but I’ve seen very little evidence – actually no evidence to support these accusations. A little bit of research seems to put these accusations in the same league as similar accusations against the Duke Lacrosse players a few years ago. Unfortunately it doesn’t seem that most learned anything from that whole ordeal. Cosby has been treated as a criminal, NBC and Netflix both dropped plans for a new Cosby projects, despite the fact that prosecutors investigated the accusations and didn’t find evidence to support charges.

Amos-ap_s640x430In an unprecedented act of open criticism of a sitting President, two 4-star Generals have publicly blasted President Obama’s policies. Several weeks ago Marine Corps General John Kelly, commander of U.S. Southern Command, first spoke out about the President’s border crisis, and now the Marine Corps top commander, Gen. James Amos, Marine Corps Commandant, publicly ridiculed President Obama’s handling of Iraq and the subsequent mess that ensued.

Madd Struggles to Stay Alive

↳ Posted on June 25th, 2014 by Ben Spera

Stock_maddWhen I was a kid Mother Against Drunk Driving was huge. You saw their logo and name everywhere. Now despite all the DUI legislation they have passed, they refuse to quit and continue to push for more. The original founder, Candy Lightner, left the organization because it was becoming too “neo-prohibitionist”, later lobbying on behalf of the American Beverage Institute to fight legislation lowering the legal DUI limit to .08% BAC. A Libertarian Case for Net Neutrality

Posted on January 25th, 2014 by Ben Spera

14137_large_net_neutralityAs a libertarian you may be uneasy with the concept of net neutrality. Like me, you feel inexplicably drawn to this neutrality but feel guilty for it. You think to yourself, “I’m a free-market libertarian, by God! Regulation is wrong! Why is my instinct betraying me?” It’s because we don’t live in perfect world. We live in an economy that is far from free and is infested with government regulations and corporate manipulation. The internet service industry is a picturesque example of this.

Bachmann Shelves Proposal to Cut Veterans’ Benefits

Posted on February 5th, 2011 by Ben Spera

After getting hammered by the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion, Congresswoman Michele Bachmann has withdrawn her proposal to cut more than $4.5 billion in benefits for disabled veterans. “The problem of government spending must be solved, but not on the backs of our nation’s war heroes,” Bachmann wrote after removing the benefit cuts from her proposal. Why the change of heart? Bachmann’s spokeswoman, Becky Rogness, said Bachmann’s office didn’t study how a cap on VA health spending would affect local VA centers.

I’m not going to harp on the fact that the Congresswoman even considered this idea, but instead just thank her for her quick response to the concerns of our country’s veterans. Thank you Rep. Bachmann.
