Obama mutilates the US flag for his campaign’s benefit. This is actually illegal, but apparently these laws don’t apply to politicians.

Vets Orgs Turn Against Their Biker Brethren

↳ Posted on September 20th, 2012 by Ben Spera

A growing trend is for local VFW and Legion posts to ban any sort of motorcycle club colors in their post. My local Legion recently did this without even offering a vote for it’s body of active Legionnaires to decide for themselves. Apparently, the state headquarters threatened them with an ultimatum: either outlaw colors or they would pull the post’s charter and shut them down. What happened to all that “freedom” stuff we fought for while in the military? I guess even veterans don’t deserve the right to exercise the freedom they fought for.  Read more…

House passes law allowing anyone to pay more taxes if they want to. Logically you would think this would solve the issue but i don’t think anyone actually expects this to satisfy anyone.

Updates Coming Soon

↳ Posted on July 23rd, 2012 by Ben Spera

There are going to be some pretty significant changes coming shortly.

First, I want to change the news feeds on the front page to be a little more relevant. The news sites currently streamed have more of a constitutional conservative perspective than individualist.

Also I might switch up the Twitter Rockstars section to get some new, more active blood out there, and maybe even tweak my theme to be a little more friendly to mobile devices.

As of right now I’m down in the mountains of Kentucky, where phone and internet service is pretty lacking, but I get back up north in about a week so I can get cracking on this stuff.

If you have any other ideas don’t hesitate to let me know.

Ron Paul Has His Own Convention

↳ Posted on July 18th, 2012 by Ben Spera

It’s no secret that the GOP brass isn’t particularly fond of Congressman Paul. Even with Paul accumulating an impressive 6 states and almost 300 delegates by some counts, the GOP and Romney campaign have yet to even offer him an invitation to the Republican National Convention in Tampa. But Ron Paul doesn’t need your stupid convention because he’s having his own damn convention. Apparently it will kick off just before the GOP’s does and will be located in Tampa as well. If you want more details on Paul’s Tampa Rally check out his official announcement available on his website.

A Libertarian Case for Net Neutrality

Posted on January 25th, 2014 by Ben Spera

14137_large_net_neutralityAs a libertarian you may be uneasy with the concept of net neutrality. Like me, you feel inexplicably drawn to this neutrality but feel guilty for it. You think to yourself, “I’m a free-market libertarian, by God! Regulation is wrong! Why is my instinct betraying me?” It’s because we don’t live in perfect world. We live in an economy that is far from free and is infested with government regulations and corporate manipulation. The internet service industry is a picturesque example of this.

The Endless Pit of U.s. Foreign Aid

Posted on February 1st, 2011 by Ben Spera

You hear politicians talk about U.S. foreign aid pretty frequently, but rarely do you hear them ever mention numbers. There is a reason for that. In 2008 we handed out a total of $50 billion dollars in foreign aid to just about every country on the face of the earth, minus North Korea, Iran and Syria. I can only imagine that in the 3 years since this report that number has only gone up. Now, there is a noticeable disparity in amounts between countries. Afghanistan is collecting a hefty $8.9 billion per year while Comoros only get’s a measly $2 million. Eritrea’s $3 million pales in comparison to Iraq’s $7.5 billion. Read more…
